Open the active service from Client Area.

  1. Open Client Area

    Visit my.hosteran.com and sign in with the email address connected to your account.

  2. Open your services

    Choose the section that lists your active products or services.

  3. Select the hosting plan

    Open the hosting service that belongs to the website you want to manage.

  4. Launch the control panel

    Use the available cPanel login option to open the hosting management interface.

Open a support ticket

Connect a request to the correct service.

  1. Sign in to Client Area

    Use the customer account that owns the affected service.

  2. Open the support area

    Choose the option for creating a new ticket or support request.

  3. Select the related service

    Connect the ticket to the hosting plan, domain or account concerned.

  4. Add useful details

    Describe the issue, include the exact error and explain what changed before it appeared.

  5. Submit the request

    Review the information and send the ticket from Client Area.

ONLINE IDENTITY

Domains

Register, connect and manage the address of your website.

Register a new domain

Check availability and complete the registration.

  1. Open the domain page

    Go to the Hosteran domain registration page.

  2. Enter the required name

    Type the domain without spaces and choose the preferred extension.

  3. Check availability

    Run the domain check and choose an available result.

  4. Enter registrant information

    Provide accurate owner and contact details. Some extensions may request extra information.

  5. Complete the order

    Review the registration period and finish checkout.

Add a domain to cPanel

Create the website location for a connected domain.

  1. Open cPanel

    Access cPanel from the relevant hosting service.

  2. Open Domains

    Find the Domains tool in the cPanel interface.

  3. Choose Create A New Domain

    Enter the full domain name you want to add.

  4. Review the document root

    Choose the folder where this website should store its files.

  5. Submit the domain

    Create the domain and then connect its DNS to the hosting service.

Connect a domain using nameservers

Delegate DNS management to the hosting service.

  1. Find the hosting nameservers

    Use the nameserver values provided with the hosting account.

  2. Open the domain management area

    Sign in where the domain is registered and select the domain.

  3. Choose nameserver management

    Replace the current values with the hosting nameservers.

  4. Save the change

    Check the spelling of every nameserver before saving.

  5. Allow propagation time

    DNS changes can take time to become visible across different networks.

Add or change a DNS record

Create A, CNAME, MX or TXT records.

  1. Open Zone Editor

    In cPanel, locate the Domains section and open Zone Editor.

  2. Select the domain

    Choose Manage beside the DNS zone you need to edit.

  3. Add or locate the record

    Select the required record type or find the existing record.

  4. Enter the supplied value

    Copy the name, destination and TTL carefully from the service instructions.

  5. Save and verify

    Submit the record and allow time for the DNS change to propagate.

Email

Create mailboxes and connect them to your devices.

Create an email account

Add a mailbox for your domain in cPanel.

  1. Open Email Accounts

    In cPanel, locate the Email section and choose Email Accounts.

  2. Choose Create

    Select the domain that should appear after the @ symbol.

  3. Enter the mailbox name

    Type the required address, such as info or accounts.

  4. Create a secure password

    Use a unique password and store it in a password manager.

  5. Finish the mailbox

    Review any storage setting and choose Create.

Connect email to Outlook or a phone

Use the mailbox IMAP and SMTP settings.

  1. Open Connect Devices

    In Email Accounts, choose Connect Devices beside the mailbox.

  2. Copy the secure settings

    Note the incoming server, outgoing server, username and port numbers.

  3. Add an account on the device

    Choose a manual IMAP account in the email application.

  4. Enter incoming details

    Use the full email address as the username and enter the mailbox password.

  5. Enter outgoing details

    Add the SMTP server, enable authentication and save the account.

Web hosting

Launch a website and move an existing project.

05.1

Publish a simple website

Upload website files to the correct document root.

  1. Connect the domain

    Make sure the domain points to the hosting nameservers or required DNS records.

  2. Open File Manager

    Access cPanel and choose File Manager.

  3. Open the document root

    Select public_html or the folder assigned to the domain.

  4. Upload the website

    Upload the files and extract an archive if required.

  5. Check the homepage

    Confirm that an index file exists and open the domain in a browser.

05.2

Request a free website migration

Send the information required to review the move.

  1. Order the appropriate hosting plan

    Choose a plan that can accommodate the website, storage and email requirements.

  2. Prepare current access

    Have the current control panel or website access details available.

  3. Open the Hosteran contact page

    Select the free migration enquiry type.

  4. Provide the website address

    Add the current provider, website URL and any useful migration notes.

  5. Wait for confirmation

    Do not cancel the old service until the migration and testing are complete.

Change the PHP version

Select the version required by a website.

  1. Create a backup

    Back up the website before changing the PHP environment.

  2. Open PHP Selector

    Find Select PHP Version or the available PHP management tool in cPanel.

  3. Select the required version

    Choose a version supported by the website application and extensions.

  4. Apply the setting

    Save the selected PHP version.

  5. Test the website

    Check the public pages, forms and administration area for errors.

Create a cron job

Run a command automatically on a schedule.

  1. Open Cron Jobs

    Find Cron Jobs in the Advanced section of cPanel.

  2. Choose an email address

    Set where command output should be delivered, if required.

  3. Select the schedule

    Use a common schedule or enter the minute, hour, day, month and weekday values.

  4. Enter the command

    Paste the complete command supplied by the application or developer.

  5. Add the cron job

    Save it and review the current cron jobs list.

Create a new WordPress website from cPanel.

  1. Open Softaculous

    In cPanel, choose the Softaculous application installer.

    Select HTTPS, the correct domain and leave the directory empty for the main website.

  4. Create administrator details

    Use a non-obvious username, a unique password and a working email address.

  5. Install the website

    Review the settings, start the installation and save the login URL.

Apply core, plugin and theme updates with a recovery path.

  1. Create a fresh backup

    Back up the website files and database before applying updates.

  2. Review available updates

    Choose the domain and required subdomains.

  4. Run AutoSSL

    Start the AutoSSL check and wait for the certificate status to update.

  5. Test HTTPS

    Open the website with https:// and check for browser warnings.

Secure a WordPress administrator account

Reduce the risk of unauthorised access.

  1. Use a unique administrator

    Avoid predictable usernames and remove administrator accounts that are no longer needed.

  2. Set a unique password

    Generate a long password and store it in a password manager.

  3. Enable two-factor authentication

    Use a trusted security solution if the website supports it.

  4. Update the website

    Keep WordPress, plugins and themes current.

  5. Remove unused extensions

Create an archive through the cPanel backup tool.

    In cPanel, choose Backup or Backup Wizard.

    Select the option for generating a full account backup.

  3. Select the destination

    Choose the home directory and provide a notification email if requested.

  4. Generate the archive

    Start the backup and wait until generation is complete.

  5. Download and store it

    Save the archive away from the hosting account.

Restore website files manually

Replace damaged files from a known clean archive.

  1. Preserve the current files

    Create a copy of the present website before replacing anything.

  2. Confirm the backup date

    Use an archive created before the problem appeared.

  3. Open the document root

    Navigate to the website folder in File Manager.

  4. Upload and extract the backup

    Replace only the files that need to be restored.

  5. Test and remove the archive

    Check the website, then delete public backup archives from the server.

Upload files with File Manager

Place files directly in a website folder.

  1. Open File Manager

    Choose File Manager from the Files section in cPanel.

  2. Open the website folder

    Navigate to public_html or the document root assigned to the domain.

  3. Choose Upload

    Select the files or archive from your computer.

  4. Wait for completion

    Do not close the upload page until the progress reaches completion.

  5. Extract and verify

    Extract archives if needed and confirm the files appear in the correct folder.

Create and use an FTP account

Connect a desktop FTP application to the hosting account.

  1. Open FTP Accounts

    Find FTP Accounts in the Files section of cPanel.

  2. Create the login

    Choose a username, secure password and the directory it may access.

  3. Open the connection settings

    Copy the FTP hostname and account username.

  4. Configure the FTP application

    Enter the hostname, username, password and secure connection option.

  5. Connect and transfer

    Open the assigned remote folder and upload the required files.

Prepare database access for an application.

  1. Open MySQL Databases

    Find the database management tool in cPanel.

  2. Create the database

    Enter a name and add the new database.

  3. Create a database user

    Add a separate username and generate a secure password.

  4. Add the user to the database

    Select both entries and continue to privileges.

  5. Assign required privileges

    Save the privileges required by the website application.

Import a database with phpMyAdmin

Upload an SQL export into an existing database.

  1. Create the destination database

    Make sure the required database and user already exist.

  2. Open phpMyAdmin

    Choose phpMyAdmin from the Databases section.

  3. Select the database

    Click the destination database in the left-hand navigation.

  4. Open Import

    Choose the SQL file and leave the detected format as SQL.

  5. Start and verify

    Run the import and check that the expected tables appear.

DIAGNOSIS

Troubleshooting

Run basic checks before opening a support request.

Check a website that is not loading

Identify whether the issue is DNS, hosting or the website.

  1. Record the exact error

    Copy the message or take a screenshot before changing anything.

  2. Test another connection

    Open the website from mobile data or another network.

  3. Check the domain

    Confirm that the registration is active and DNS points to the hosting service.

  4. Review recent changes

    Check new plugins, PHP changes, file edits or DNS updates.

  5. Open a linked ticket

    If the issue remains, submit the results from Client Area.

12.2

Check email that is not sending

Verify the mailbox, device settings and returned error.

  1. Test webmail

    Sign in to webmail and send a message to determine whether the mailbox works.

  2. Confirm the password

    Update the saved password on the device if it has changed.

  3. Check SMTP settings

    Compare the outgoing server, port, encryption and authentication with Connect Devices.

  4. Read the returned error

    Keep the full bounce or connection message because it identifies the failure.

  5. Submit the test results

    Open a ticket from Client Area if webmail or the correct settings do not resolve it.
